Road Trip

Went to Safti MI around two weeks back on a Friday.

The appointment on that day was actually postponed from a few weeks back since the Dental Officer was not around. He was on MC and I wasn't informed about it until I arrived in front of the receptionist. She told me straight away that the dentist was unavailable and told me to come on another day, which happens to be on the 5th of August. She wrote me a time sheet and indicated a new appointment on the card which I brought along.
It took me about 30 minutes to walk in all the way into the medical centre and another 30 minutes to get out of the place.
I spent not more than 5 minutes in the clinic and was already on my way back out.

It felt like the Amazing Race to me since I had to travel so far to receive a piece of paper and then going off straight away to another destination.

I went down on the postponed date and managed to see the dentist.
Before that, I was thinking if the same thing might happen again.
That the dentist was sick and on medical leave once more.
But God had mercy on this kind soul and didn't allow him to fall sick.
I would have punched him till his jaws break and all his gums brutally swollen so that he had to book a dental appointment for himself too.
I don't really like to walk so much just for fun you know.

To be truthful enough, I didn't walk much on that day.
I was lucky and managed to get a ride when I was going in, and while I was going out.

After I took a number of steps from the main gates towards the direction of the medical centre, I heard a honking sound from a car which was right behind me. I turned around and saw someone winding down the window and waving at me. I moved closer to the car and he asked if I wanted a ride from him.

He was a Major.

A major help to me to be exact.

I act shy abit at first and hesitated for awhile.
But all the while I was thinking of hopping onto the car and letting him drive me to where I was heading initially.

'Ermm..'
'Okay......'

Everyone knows that it's only polite to be sitting in front beside the driver and not behind when the front is unoccupied.
It is only when taking a cab or when a chauffeur is present, then it is appropriate to sit behind.
I walked to the front side and was about to open the door when he suddenly stopped me.

'Sit behind lor.'

He is the owner of the car so... That makes him the boss.
The front seat was occupied with his stuffs thus I had no choice but to oblige and made myself comfortable in the back seat.

I was all set and ready for my Ahmad to take me to my destination.

He drove me to the carpark which was located near the medical centre and dropped me off.
I gave thanks to him before I alighted and made my way.
I could sense that he wanted to thank me too,
for giving him an opportunity to be my personal chauffeur.
He wanted me to sit behind so badly that he didn't even want me to shift his stuffs from the front seat to the back. All he needed to do was ask and I would have gladly sat beside him in the front.

I met Jackson at the medical centre and found out that he had cycled all the way there. He told me that he could probably give me a ride out too...
If I don't mind having to squeeze onto his bicycle and sitting on a cushionless surface.

Well, if I didn't take a ride from Jackson...
I might be thinking of loitering around the same carpark waiting for the same Major to appear.

Taking a ride from Jackson would be a better idea, since the chances of the same person appearing were slim and the chances of me getting caught for a suspicious act were high.

I adjusted myself on the centre of his bicycle and lifted my legs. In the beginning, Jackson was trying hard to balance and pedal at the same time. I was partially at fault too, since I weigh more than the bicycle could carry.
We came to a downslope and the speed of the bicycle increased tremendously. Soon, Jackson and I were at the main gates and we went our separate ways after that.

Now tell me.
Why do I still need a driver's license.
